documenting the unscripted beauty of your story
I HOPE YOU KNOW HOW MUCH YOUR STORY MATTERS.
being a family (whatever that means to you) isn't always sunshine-y and magical. yes life/relationships/parenthood can be lovely and joyful but it is also emotional and messy. the late night feedings, the tantrums, the fights, the constant parenting despite not always knowing what you are doing. the doubts and fears. but all of that hard stuff, is also important. it represents who you are as a family, in your purest and most honest form.
i hope you are here because you know deeply, that you don't want to forget any of it. and you know that the little things will eventually be the big things. and you want to remember (and your family to remember) that even during the chaos and (not-so-pretty) hard days, there was so much love.
you want photographs that document the not-so-fancy but real moments. the moments that matter most: the family rituals, early morning snuggles, piggyback rides, dance parties, conversations around the dinner table. because all of that reflects your heart, your happiness. you want to look back at this season of life and know that it was ALL important. it's all a part of your story and is the stuff that should be remembered forever.
a different way of documenting your family life. what does it mean to be documented in your home? it takes a bit of bravery and courage to open up your doors and allow someone to take photographs inside your sacred space. it can feel vulnerable scary. but i don't want to feel like you have to put on a show for me, have a super clean house, be someone you are not, or have your kids act a certain way. these shoots are suppose to feel comfortable and real and honest. so i want to begin by thanking you and trusting me in this process (put this in the welcome document?). a little bit about the process. it's not easy letting your wall downs, allowing someone into your home, and being photographed just as you are. let the imperfection be the beauty.
i work best when i can blend a bit into the background and allow things to unfold naturally in front of me. that's when the magic happens.
i will not try to pose you or tell you to smile.
i don't want you to make a fuss.
i want you to be YOU. i want you to be honest. whether that's silly and playful or quiet and reflective.
i don't want you to worry about your kids acting up and crying. or getting dirty or being obnoxious. because even when things aren't "pretty," your story is still beautiful.
i don't want you to worry about making your home look perfect. because the stuff that makes your house a home
if you trust me as an artist, i can show you
