A good friend once asked me

“If you could do anything with you life, what would you do and what’s stopping you?”

That nudge was all I needed. Despite all the doubts of what I should be doing, in my heart of hearts I knew I was an artist—a photographer. Nothing gave me the feeling like the ability to distill the raw emotions of a moment into a single still frame and tell a story.

It takes a lot of bravery to go against the status quo – especially on a day as big as your wedding – when the world is shouting at you to do things exactly like everyone else. So let me be your good friend amidst the noise and ask you: “If you could do anything for your wedding what would you do? What’s stopping you?” I admire the hell out of you for choosing to stay true to yourself. And I can't wait to see the day you create!

My advice: There’s nothing more personal than your love, so make your wedding day a reflection of that

From a glance, you wouldn’t necessarily see my wedding as non-traditional. It was more… non-someone-else. Non-fussy. Non-complicated. We planned a weekend full of festivities for our people, we got ready together, we walked into and out of the ceremony together. No one at our wedding noticed the absence of a garter throw or a three-tiered cake.

Your guests won’t notice those “missing” or the “non-traditional” things either. Without-a-doubt they’ll notice your love though. In the intentional details, the energy, and the way your happiness is present even when you aren’t. Your wedding day will honor who you two are and be a true celebration of the commitment you’re making to one another. Which is the definition of a wedding afterall—how very traditional of you ;).

At a wedding you’ll find me:

Getting my groove on
Laughing at Uncle Bob’s jokes
Holding back tears during the vows
Gasping at every photo preview
Cheering on every kiss

Out in the world you’ll find me:

Cooking with my hubs
Tending to my houseplant addiction
Pressing snooze
Chatting with (at) my pup
Pursuing plane tickets
